How to borrow and return books during Phase 2 reopening

According to QNL, "to borrow books in this phase of reopening, you need to book a Library visit and request the books in advance through this form at least 2 working days before the time slot you’ve booked for your Library visit. You will also need your Library ID to self-checkout these books.

You can return borrowed items at any time (24/7) using the Drive-Thru Book Return Station in front of the building or the bins that are available at the Library's main entrance for this purpose."

Precautionary measures during gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions:

  • Visits will be by appointment only during one of two daily slots: 9:00 – 11:00 AM or 12:00 – 2:00 PM, Sunday through Thursday. The Library will be closed on weekends.
  • Only patrons with a green status on the EHTERAZ app will be allowed access. Your temperature will also be checked at entry.
  • You are required to wear a mask at all times.
  • Only patrons aged 13 to 60 are permitted entry.
  • DVDs, CDs, iPads, headphones, chargers or other items will not be available.
  • Observe social distancing guidelines at all times. Gatherings are limited to five people or fewer.
  • Individual study carrels and computer stations are open.
  • The restaurant and café are closed, and the vending machines will not work as well.
  • Borrowed items will still be automatically renewed until further notice. However, you can return borrowed items, if you wish to, starting 1 July using QNL's Drive-Thru Book Return Station in front of the building or the bins that will be available at the Library's main entrance for this purpose.
  • The Heritage Library is reopening, but our Heritage Reading Room remains closed. Heritage Library materials are accessible by requesting a digital copy via this email ([email protected]). If the requested item has not yet been digitized, we will let you know when it is available.
