To further promote its commitment to Qatar National Vision 2030, Dolphin Energy has announced its participation - for the fourth year - in Qatar Petroleum’s Annual Environment Fair.
The event, held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, will take place at Doha Exhibition Centre from April 14 to 16.
Dolphin Energy’s participation this year provides an opportunity for the company to showcase its environmental commitments and social responsibility towards awareness and community involvement. Dolphin Energy has selected the theme of Climate Change for its booth, in keeping with the fair’s slogan, Clean Energy for a Sustainable World.
The company’s booth will showcase information on the cycle of global warming with its causes and effects. It will also illustrate the impact of climate change on marine life, habitats and natural resources; moreover, it will highlight the importance of growing trees and provide the audience with tips that can be implemented at home and in the office to save energy.
The booth will feature an activity area to engage kids in a fun, interactive game on carbon footprints with the aim to foster children’s knowledge and awareness on how human activities contribute to climate change.
There will also be a VIP area in which a technical poster will showcase Dolphin Energy’s management approach towards a safe and clean environment, addressing the company’s initiatives on flaring reduction, energy consumption, climate change and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, green IT initiative and employee engagement.
“Dolphin Energy is strongly committed to conducting its business in a manner that protects the environment,” said Adel Ahmed Albuainain, general manager of Dolphin Energy Qatar.
“Dolphin Energy works closely with its partners and contractors to produce energy responsibly by understanding and actively managing environmental risks with a relentless focus on operational excellence.”
Since its inception, Dolphin Energy has incorporated the Best Available Technology and adopted the Best Practicable Environmental Option into the design of its facilities.
These initial investments have helped Dolphin Energy minimise overall environmental impacts in general, and air emissions in particular.
The company’s goal is to continuously reduce the level of greenhouse gases and emissions across all the business processes, and support and contribute towards Qatar National Vision 2030.
In 2011, Dolphin Energy launched Beati Watani, an online environmental education programme for schools in the UAE, with Emirates Wildlife Society in partnership with World Wildlife Fund.
The overall goal of the programme is to familiarise teachers, students and their families with regional biodiversity and train them on how to protect it. This year, the initiative will be launched in Qatar as well.
The aim of the programme is to entrust the future of the UAE’s and Qatar’s natural heritage with citizens who understand and respect its value.
“As a leading energy company, Dolphin Energy has taken its environmental responsibilities very seriously. From 2008 to 2012, Dolphin Energy has successfully reduced its flared gas by 78% and GHG emissions by 24%,” Albuainain said.
