Under the patronage of H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy and Industry, the Second Qatar Petroleum Occupational Health (QPOH) Conference, which will be held from November 19 to 21, will feature a distinguished lineup of international experts in the field of occupational health.

Among the high-profile speakers is Dr L Casey Chosewood, Senior Medical Officer for Total Worker Health of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the US. Dr Chosewood will be delivering a paper focusing on “Best Practices for Creating Healthy Workplaces.”

Other key speakers at the conference will include Dr Martin Hogan, Immediate Past Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine of the Royal Collage of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI), and Dr Alastair Fraser, Vice-President of Health for Royal Dutch Shell in The Hague, Netherlands. Dr Hogan will give presentations on “Focused and Cost Effective Health Surveillance” and on “Health Risk and Health Impact Assessment,” while Dr Fraser will discuss proactive stress management and the emerging health issues in the oil and gas industry.

The conference will also feature the technical presentations of Professor Tar-Ching Aw, Interim Dean of the College of Medicine & Health Sciences of the United Arab Emirates University, and Dr Ahmad Al Shatti, Consultant on Occupational and Environmental Medicine and Director of the Occupational Health Directorate of Kuwait’s Ministry of Health. Professor Aw will speak on the management of work-related musculoskeletal disorders, while Dr Al Shatti’s presentation will focus on how to deal with disability issues in the workplace.

Dr Rosemary Sokas, Professor & Chair of the Department of Human Science at the School of Nursing and Health Studies of Georgetown University in Washington, DC; Dr Judith SC Shiao, Associate Professor at the Department of Nursing of the National Taiwan University Medical College; and Dennis P Driscoll, President and Principal Consultant of the Associate in Acoustics, Colorado, USA, will also present papers.

The 2nd QPOH Conference 2013 is being organized by QP in partnership with the Supreme Council of Health.
