B-Boying which used to be referred to as ‘break dancing’ or ‘breaking,’ started during the late 1970s in the Bronx, New York and is a foundational element of the Hip Hop culture along with DJing, MCing and graffiti art.
The term ‘B-Boying,’ which refers to the dance, moves and lifestyle originated in New York and was coined by Kool Herc, one of the pioneering Hip Hop DJs throwing jams in the Bronx.
Today, an evolving and well connected B-Boy and B-Girl scene thrives around the world. South Korea, France and the US boast some of the most vibrant and talented candidates on the planet.
Red Bull BreaKing is a competition in which B-Boys face-off against each other in one-to-one battles to determine a local hero.
The competition will adopt a knockout format and following the Qatar leg of the competition, subsequent national battles will take place in different cities throughout the Middle East.
Two winners from each country will be flown to Jordan to compete for the 2011 Regional Red Bull BreaKing title.
The regional champion will have the chance to travel to Tokyo in November to compete with the best B-Boys at the Red Bull BC One, the world’s top B-Boy competition.
Innovative candidates are required to perform their best moves to the rhythm of the best music and songs and in front of Hong 10, former Red Bull BC One champion, who is going to be the main judge of this unique competition.
