This year’s edition of Made in Qatar exhibition opens tomorrow at the Doha Exhibition Centre
with the participation of more than 200 companies in various sectors.
Qatar Chamber in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Industry is organising the expo under the patronage of the Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
Launched four years ago, the three-day expo will showcase high quality products, industries and businesses involved in the manufacturing, food processing and chemical and petrochemical sectors as well as small and medium-sized industries in the country
. It will occupy 15,000sqm of space at the Doha Exhibition Centre.
Apart from showcasing Qatari products and businesses, the event is also aimed at encouraging partnerships among the business community in Qatar and development of the industrial sector within the country.
The expo reaffirms Qatar’s intensive efforts to diversify its economy from oil and gas as traditional sources of national income to the manufacturing sector based on Qatar National Vision 2030.
The exhibition also aims to contribute to attracting investment in the manufacturing sector, to revitalise it as one of the most important segments of the economy that achieve diversification of sources of national income, create new jobs, lessen reliance on imported products and promote sustainable development.
Unique to this year’s edition is the presence of well-known companies and traders from other parts of the world visiting the expo to see products of Qatari companies, paving the way for marketing them abroad.
The exhibition will also feature a parallel discussion forum where experts from the industry will shed light on the Qatari industries, prospects and challenges faced by them and focus on the sectors having high potential for foreign investment.
