1 - Decolonializing Design - Masterclass
Mainstream design discourse has been dominated by a focus on Anglocentric/Eurocentric ways of seeing, knowing, and acting in the world. Little attention is being paid to alternative and marginalized discourses from the non-Anglo-European sphere, or the nature and consequences of design-as-politics today. Decolonial design asks how do we understand and critically reflect on the politics of design practice, and on the politics of the artifacts, systems, and practices that designerly activity produces.
2 - Design for Storytelling - Developing Museum Displays and Narratives in the Arab Region - Masterclass
What roles do interpretation and design have in creating visitor experiences that are powerful, entertaining, thought-provoking, and memorable? How do museums choose which stories to tell? How do these elements come together and create a successful visitor experience?
3 - Design Practice at the Intersection with Art and Architecture - Masterclass
How are a new generation of designers engaging with the urban environment in innovative ways? What are the roles of poetic intervention and self-initiated projects in relation to state-supported developments and opportunities?
