Registration for the fifth Qatar International Falcons and Hunting Festival starts on January 1, organisers announced yesterday.
Registration will continue until January 5, from 4pm to 8pm at Al Gannas Association headquarters, Building 33, Katara.
Being held under the patronage of H E Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the festival showcases a significant aspect of Qatari heritage and that is why organisers are keen to present it at the regional and international level. The festival has become one of the key Qatari traditional events that promote the country’s tourism sector, said association and festival Chairman Ali bin Khatim Al Muhashadi.
He said the festival is also a platform for international participants and hobbyists, and encourages Arab citizens from neighbouring countries to participate and win prizes in various categories of the competition.
“International participation is beneficial for us in sharing experiences and disseminating this vital aspect of our culture among a large number of participants from the region,” he said.
He said this edition of the festival focuses more on tourism, providing participants and visitors with requirements for their comfort, including health facilities and family areas.
Festival events will be held for almost one month and will include falcon and saluki competitions in various categories, in Sabkath Marma in Sealine.
