D’reesha Performing Arts Festival 2021 is a pioneering festival that will integrate multiple disciplines, ranging from theatre and poetry to research, education, and, technology. It will explore the nature of performing arts and engage a new generation of innovative artists. A year-round performance lab that aims to engage and empower students will culminate in an annual festival that transforms Education City into an open stage.

In its inaugural year, D’reesha aims to act as a springboard: showcasing Qatar’s thriving creative community and inspiring artists at all stages of their development — celebrating heritage, identifying untapped talent, and sowing the seeds of creativity for years to come. In the long term, the unique multidisciplinary platform provided by Qatar Foundation will give the world a performance experience unlike any other.

The festival will take place from 12 to 17 December 2021 in Education City. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the festival will take place outdoors in open-air spaces with social distancing enforced. We will adhere to local guidelines as advised by the Ministry of Public Health.

  • A children's activity that will merge the beauty of reading with the art of acting.

• THE CAKE SELLER SHOW
  • A play about the story of Warda who lives in a small village full of love. When she's faced with obstacles, the people of the village gather to help her.
  • Venue: D’REESHA OF THE FUTURE
• BYT BY AMIRA RADHI
  • An artistic performance that explores the connection between the artist and their inner child. The inner child helps to recall the memories of when they built their first house from cushions.
  • Venue: TIME MACHINE
• THE TIME MACHINE SHOW
  • This show encourages children to explore and utilize what they have at their disposal to create extraordinary things.
  • Venue: D'RESHA THYTHMS / THE PUPPET STAGE
• PERFORMANCE BY KINGS COLLEGE SCHOOL
  • Students from Kings College School will entertain audiences with a display of musical shows and a drama scene from 'Matilda'.

• TEXAS A&M SCIENCE ROAD SHOW
  • The Science Road Show is an exciting opportunity for kids and teenagers to engage with science.

• BALLET WORKSHOP BY SOPHIE MACDONALD DANCE COMPANY

• PERFORMANCE BY VCUARTS QATAR
  • Students from VCUarts Qatar will be participating in a variety of shows and workshops, including music and poetry performances.

  • An inspirational display that showcases the journey of producing the first-ever musical by QF schools.

  • A series of solo, duet, and group musical performances and poetry recitals by students from Sherborne Qatar.

  • This show aims to rely the message to the community that the search for a way to communicate with a child who has autism is not specific to one method.

• THE PAINTING BICYCLE BY FATIMA AL NAIMI
  • A fun, interactive experience where a member of the audience will ride on a bicycle, creating a painting using the wheels attached to the bicycle. Participants will have the opportunity to keep the paintings as a souvenir.
