Referencing a poem from Nizar Qabbani, this collaborative workshop will experiment with sound as a medium to explore Doha’s ‘imagined’ sonic landscape by remixing past and present.
Participants will use the Doha metro and existing landmarks as a guide to gathering sounds from field recording and voice recording with the intent to capture personal geographic memories and community stories. Together, you will use the collection of recordings to compose a newly synthesized soundscape through modulation and manipulation using various electronic instruments and software.
Date and Timings:
The workshop will be a series of four 90-minute sessions on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
The workshop will be led by Hadeel Eltayeb, Fire Station past Curator in residence 2021-22, in collaboration with Sonic Jeel. And can accommodate 10-12 participants who will be selected from an application process.
