Data and information from the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) showed an 85 percent increase in the number of people admitted to hospitals during January, as a result of Covid-19 virus infection.
The Ministry confirmed in its official accounts on various social media today that it is very important now more than ever that all members of society adhere to preventive measures, such as always wearing a mask and leaving a distance of at least one and a half meters between the person and others and avoiding crowded places as much as possible with regular hand washing.
The Ministry called on everyone to take the initiative to adhere to precautionary measures, to avoid a second wave of COVID-19 infections.

It is noteworthy that Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Khal, head of the National Strategic Group to address Coronavirus (Covid-19) and Head of the Communicable Diseases Department at Hamad Medical Corporation, has warned in a recent press conference that the State of Qatar has started to witness in the past few days an increase in the number of cases of Coronavirus infection and an increase In the number of hospitalizations, due to severe infection with the virus, as well as the increase in the number of cases requiring admission to intensive care.
Dr. Al-Khal attributed the reason for this increase to the inaction of a large percentage of community members with regard to wearing masks and visits and not taking precautions in gatherings, weddings and other occasions, which led to the occurrence of many foci of infection, indicating that when comparing the number of infections four weeks ago to the past days, it is noticed that a doubling is observed. The number of daily infections with the virus, which he said "is a cause for concern, and may indicate signs of a new wave of the epidemic in Qatar."
