Updates on ports, government call center, quarantine and business violations

H.E. Lolwah Al Khater reviewed the precautionary measures implemented at the ports, which started in February, including the reduction of the number of workers in the ports, the prevention of sailors from going to the berth, and the prevention of the sailors' change at the state's ports, in addition to examining the employees coming from abroad at the health authorities, sterilizing the port facilities, distributing masks and sterilizers, and temporarily stopping work until further notice, except for the flour mill.

She reviewed several stats related to the performance of the ports in the first quarter of 2020, as the number of ships exceeded 800 ships, containers surpassed 335,000 containers, cars and equipment exceeded 20,000, and construction and building materials passed 81,000 tons, which means the performance and the pace are very good.

Her Excellency reviewed some figures related to electronic infrastructure, including those related to e-government and its activation and the percentage of electronic connectivity, as it increased between government agencies to 83 percent, noting that during the past period, more than 1,600 cyberattacks were addressed in the field of cybersecurity, while about 34 terabytes of data were received on government portals and various electronic entities, the communication rate between different entities increased by 20 percent as well.

She pointed out that the government call center (three different government sites and a fourth site to be added) currently comprises about 300 employees working in these different centers to receive calls, and providing 70 active electronic services in nine different languages around the clock with a link to 34 Government entities, noting that the number of calls exceeded 340,000 calls, with an average response speed of about 11 seconds, and an average satisfaction with the service about 90 percent.

As for quarantine statistics, Her Excellency clarified that 6,694 people were subjected to hotel quarantine, and 3,488 people left the hotel quarantine, and 28 hotels were allocated to that.

Concerning the number of reports related to violations, especially those related to quarantine, Her Excellency indicated that during the period from March 31 to April 4, they reached 3,775 reports and were all dealt with, and several calls related to gatherings were also received on the number 999, and all were dealt with.

Her Excellency stressed that the efforts of the ministries and other institutions are in full swing, including the campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, where 378 violations have been detected since March until today, as well setting fix prices to sell sterilizers, disinfectants and other goods, in addition to conducting inspection campaigns for factories to ensure their compliance with the conditions and establishing a hotline to receive complaints.

She praised the awareness efforts of a number of media institutions, including Qatar Media Corporation, and its tremendous efforts, as it published about 645 awareness videos in different languages, and broadcasting daily TV programs related to the Coronavirus crisis.

With regard to citizens abroad, including Qatari citizens, children, wives, and husbands of Qataris, Her Excellency called on them to contact the embassies in the countries where they are located on the numbers announced at the dedicated website.

Her Excellency stressed the need to communicate and reassure embassies in the countries in which they stay, and that in the event that they need any service or facilitation to return to the State of Qatar, this is available to all of them.
