Visiting a farm can be great fun and very different from living in the city. Freshly grown colourful vegetables, green leaves, chirping sounds of birds—all of these provide you with a pleasant opportunity and an adventurous experience to enjoy and discover the way your favourite foods grow. Knowing this, Our ILQ host, Mama Baba Ganoush recently visited Qatar’s one of the oldest farms—the Jerry Smeih where she got close with nature and observed how the farm operates with sustainable, environmentally-friendly methods. About Jerry Smeih Farm

At Jerry Smeih Farm in Qatar, produces a full array of vegetables and poultry, all locally grown and raised. As one of the oldest family farms in Qatar, the Jerry Smeih farm was established more than 70 years ago (in the 1930s) and was the main farm supplying the northern cities in the state. Today, as an active participant in Qatar's National Food Security Programme, the Jerry Smeih farm also pursues diversification of its business and is in the process of fish farming, hydroponic and aquaponic farming, and honey farming as well.

Location of the Jerry Smeih Farm

It is located northwest of Al-Khor city, approximately 10.5 km away from the nearest inhabitance (Al-Khor Industrial Zone).
