Ministry reopens 8 renovated beaches public

The Ministry of Municipality aims to make the beaches ready to receive visitors to the country during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

The development works covered eight beaches out of 18 beaches in the first phase of the project. These include Al Wakra Family Beach, Al Wakra Public Beach, Simaisma Beach at Al Daayan, Al Kharaij Beach at Al Rayyan, Safa Al Touq Beach, Al Ferkiah Beach at Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Al Ghariya Beach al Al Shamal, and the Sealine Beach at Al Wakra.

The development works included adding more umbrellas of different types, according to the classification of the beach, corridors and walking tracks to make the beach more easily accessible, lightening systems using solar power, play areas including football and volleyball playgrounds and sand and regular kids play areas, and some kiosks providing different basic services to the visitors.

The rehabilitated beaches were opened by Hamad Juma al-Mannai, director of Al Shamal Municipality; Jaber Hassan Al Jabir, director of Al Rayyan Municiplaity; Rashid al-Khayareen director of Al Daayan Municipality; Abdulla al-Sada, director of Al Khor and Al Thakhira Municipality; Eng Mohamed Hassan al-Nuaimi, director of Al Wakra Municipality; alongside Dr Fayqa Ashkinani, director of Public Relations.
