The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on 1 August 2023 that Qatari citizens will be able to travel to Japan visa-free from 21 August 2023 onwards.

A statement was issued by an official at the Consular Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stating that the system for exempting Qatari citizens from the Japanese visa named 'JAVES' will be activated by Japanese authorities as of 21 August 2023.

It was also mentioned that Qatari citizens wishing to travel to Japan can apply to the Embassy of Japan in Doha electronically through the system. They will be required to register their passports and complete the visa exemption registration procedure online.

Upon arrival in Japan, Qatari citizens will need to provide their visa exemption registration notice on their mobile devices.
