Citizens and expatriate residents of Qatar can now apply for Schengen VISAs to the Czech Republic at a new visa application centre, Qatar daily Gulf Times has been announced.

The centre has been jointly launched by the embassy of the Czech Republic in Qatar and VFS Global, a leading outsourcing and technology services specialist for diplomatic missions worldwide.

Located on the third floor (301) of Jaidah Square, Airport Road, Doha, the VISA application centre will provide outbound travellers from Qatar with "a convenient channel ensuring enhanced quality of services and seamless procedures", a press statement noted.

Applicants will also complete their biometric enrolment at the same application centre. "Managed and operated by VFS Global, the centre has started accepting visa application submissions from residents and citizens of Qatar. Applicants need not approach the embassy for visa applications any more," the statement explained.

VFS Global has been associated with the client government of the Czech Republic since 2008 and currently serves applicants through a network of 100 visa application centres across 24 countries such as India, Jordan, the Philippines, Russia, South Africa, the UK and others.

Vinay Malhotra, regional Group COO for Middle East, South Asia & China, VFS Global, said: “VFS Global has a successful relationship with the Czech Republic, handling its visa application submissions since 2008. The new centre in Qatar is yet another milestone adding to the portfolio of visa application centres we manage on behalf of the Czech Republic government through 100 application centres across the world.”

All applications submitted at the visa application centre in Qatar, as well passports entrusted with VFS Global, will be transferred to the visa application centre in Kuwait, which will handle all entry permit submissions to the Czech Republic.

Passports submitted for visa stamping will be delivered back to the visa application centre in Qatar for collection or couriered to the address provided by the visa applicant during the application submission process. VFS Global will take all relevant measures to safely handle the applications and facilitate smooth and timely processing.

Managed by professionals trained to provide secure services in an efficient manner, the centre also offers optional Premium Lounge services to visa applicants for more personalised service as well as door-step delivery of passports, the statement added.

VISA applicants to the Czech Republic can direct their queries and appointment requests to the call centre number, 44231188, or communicate with the centre at [email protected].
