The Qatar Financial Centre (QFC) Authority hosted its Second Annual QFC 5-a-side Football Tournament in Al Sadd Sport Club in Doha on Tuesday.

First launched in 2014, the QFC Authority 5-a-side Football Tournament was met with resounding success for bringing the QFC Authority and QFC-licensed firms together to strengthen business bonds and networking opportunities outside the office environment.

This year’s tournament brings together 220 players divided into 19 different teams and firms, who will compete for nine weeks culminating with the final matches for the QFC Cup. Each participating firm will contribute a team that will play every Tuesday evening at the Al Sadd Sport Club facilities.

Welcoming the competing teams at the opening ceremony, QFC Authority Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication Yousef Fakhroo, said: “This tournament, which is quickly becoming a QFC tradition, provides us with a chance, as the QFC community, to come together and enjoy a healthy and constructive environment away from the daily stresses of work. The bonds and comradeship that we’ve developed over the years will be enhanced and fostered by this year’s tournament.”

Yousef also thanked the sponsors, Ooredoo, Qatar First Bank and GlobeMed for helping make the event successful.
