The Qatari handball team achieved a major victory over its Indian counterpart with a score of 48/14 today in its second match in the Asian men’s handball qualifiers for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games (Paris 2024), which is currently being held in Doha and will continue until 28 October 2023.

This great result reflects that the Qatari team did not face any significant difficulty in achieving victory, as it imposed its complete superiority in the match in light of the large difference in level between it and the Indian team, which was unable to keep up with it. As a result of this superiority, the Qatari team ended the first half in its favour with a difference of twenty goals. 26/6 before moving the score further away in the second half, eventually emerging victorious by 34 goals.

With this victory, the Qatari team raised its score to four points at the top of the Group A standings, as it won its first match yesterday over the Chinese team 34/25.

The Qatari national team will play its third match the day after tomorrow against the UAE; then it will meet in the fourth match with South Korea next Sunday before concluding its group stage matches against Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

Eleven teams will participate in the Asian men's handball qualifiers for the 33rd Summer Olympic Games / Paris 2024 / held in Doha. The first group includes the teams of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the Emirates, India and China, while the second group includes the teams of Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Japan and Kazakhstan.

The first and second of each group qualify for the semi-finals, which will be held on the 26th of October, in which the first of the first group will meet the second of the second group, and the first of the second group will meet the second of the first group, with the two winners qualifying for the final match on the 28th of the same month for the ticket. Qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Only the first-place finisher in the qualifiers will qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, while the runner-up will qualify for a playoff next March.

The Qatari team is looking forward to obtaining a qualification card for the Olympic Games for the second time, after having qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics in Brazil, for the first time in the history of Qatari handball, after obtaining first place in the qualifiers that were also held in Doha in 2015.

It is noteworthy that this is the third time in a row that Qatar has hosted the Asian men's handball qualifiers for the Olympic Games, as in 2015, it hosted the Rio 2016 Olympic qualifiers, and in 2019 it hosted the Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualifiers.
