The Qatari delegation participating in the 2023 Arab Games in Algeria, which officially opened on 5 July 2023, and will be held until 15 July 2023, started its journey with a silver medal in athletics. Hamdi Al-Amin won the silver medal in the high jump competition after he achieved a score of 2.16 meters.
Al-Amin expressed his happiness at winning the first medal of the mission in the Arab Games, indicating that he was aspiring to achieve the gold medal, but he will seek to compensate for that during the upcoming events. Qatari runner Ashraf Othman qualified for the men's 400 finals after recording a time of 45.97 seconds.
The ceremony of raising the Qatari flag took place in the sports village, the headquarters of the delegations participating in the Arab Games, while the Qatari delegation participating in the Arab Games chose boxing champion Abdulhadi Al-Marri to carry the flag of Qatar at the opening ceremony of the tournament, which is scheduled to be held on 6 July 2023, under the slogan "With sports we rise, and in Algeria." We meet".
It is worth noting that the Arab Games witness the participation of about 3,500 athletes from 22 countries in various competitions and disciplines, competing in 20 sports.
