Referring to the match between Qatar and New Zealand held on June 19, 2023, the Qatar Football Association contacted Yousef Abdul Razzaq Yousef to clarify the truth of what happened during the match and refute the widespread media allegations, as he, in turn, confirmed the exchange of words with the opponent - in the midst of the incident that happened - shortly before the end of the first half, but no racist or discriminatory language was used or directed towards any player in the team. New Zealand. On the contrary, Youssef stressed that he was in fact subjected to racist abuse during the match.

The Qatar Football Association takes these allegations seriously and stands against racism in all its forms, as it should never be underestimated as it is a serious problem that still exists within the game.

In this regard, the QFA calls on the international football community to do more to address racism and discrimination on and off the pitch.
