DOHA, 27 JANUARY 2014: The Dolphin Energy Doha Dash 2014 will donate 25% of its registration fees to The Shafallah Center for Children with Special Needs, organisers have announced today. The event, in its second year, will take place on February 11th 2014 at Losail International Circuit. The event is accessible for everyone with 5km and 3km races from ages eight and above, a 1km race for children and a ladies’ 1km walk. The Shafallah Center, under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, is a center of excellence in Qatar that provides comprehensive educational, medical, rehabilitation, social, vocational and recreational services for individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders and their families. Dolphin Energy has developed a long standing relationship with the Center which has included donations and support pledged throughout the company’s sponsorship of the Qatar Masters golf tournament. A tailored program was run every year for three years in which the scores returned by the golfers over the four day event helped produce a monetary amount for the company to donate. Mr. Adel Ahmed Albuainain, General Manager, Dolphin Energy, Qatar, said: “Dolphin Energy is delighted to support Shafallah Center once again. The center does invaluable work and is a beacon of light for children with special needs in Qatar. We are always keen to support those in need and hope that the choice of charity will help motivate more people to register for the event. The Doha Dash helps us reach out across the spectrum of the community, support the vision behind Qatar National Sport Day and encourage citizens and residents of the country to live more physically active lives.” The Shafallah Center provides services and care to both Qatari and expatriates and currently has around 720 students who receive daily support free of charge. Through the commitment of a dedicated team of professionals, and working in close collaboration with parents and families, the center delivers a continuation of care for its students that goes far beyond their graduation from Shafallah. Its mission exceeds providing services to families of children and adults with special needs. Research and studies are also conducted for the purpose of finding out the causes of disability and ways to prevent it and to provide community awareness on dealing with those with special needs. The Dolphin Energy Doha Dash aims to encourage a healthy lifestyle in Qatar, and is also supported by Vodafone Qatar, DHL Express, W Doha Hotel and Residence and Doha Stadium Plus.
