For anyone new to Qatar, Karak is a popular drink that can be consumed any time of the day. It has Indian and Pakistani origins, also known as 'Kadak Chai' which translates to strong tea. The most popular way to order Karak is to stop your car at a cafeteria, honk, and wait for a carhop.
The ILoveQatar.net (ILQ) team has put together 6 Karak spots to hit up when you feel like you need to get a fix.
Zanjabeel is a restaurant chain delivering high-quality food. Although popular for its burgers and fries, their Karak is worth trying too! Open 24x7, their menu is extensive, and the ambience is casual. Karak Small starts at QR 1. They also have the Karak flask option, which can be refilled upon request.
A popular hot spot for Karak in Qatar, Tea Time is one of the go-to places for those who prefer to just drop by. Aside from its affordable and tasty Karak, it is also known for other items, such as popcorn chicken, burgers, pasta, and paratha. Karak starts at QR 1 and could go up to QR 50 for big orders. Refilling your flasks/pots can be done upon request at their branches.
Al Naimi Cafeteria has many different branches all across Doha. If you’re planning a trip to the desert or having a gathering with friends, much like the other Karak places, you can always take a large empty flask and get it filled depending on the size of your flask. Of course, their small and medium-sized Karak is their most popular item starting at QR 1 for the smallest size.
The Karak from Chapati & Karak tastes great. This particular enterprise is also quite popular, mainly because of its location at Katara Cultural Village. Chapati & Karak has a branch in London, offering a taste of Doha abroad. They also serve chapati with different fillings like Zaatar & Cheese, Egg & Tomatoes, Keema, etc.
Karak Mqanes is one of the well-known Karak places here in Qatar. Although their menu has more than just Karak, you still can't deny its amazing taste! The sweet, creamy taste of the Karak is best complemented by the traditional Qatari food options from their menu.
Poori And Karak's own Karak has been notorious to pull customers to their stores! Offering Pakistani, Nepali, Central Asian, Asian, and Middle Eastern cuisine on their menu, this restaurant has a long queue of people patiently waiting for a cup of their tasty Karak. Poori and Karak sell it starting at QR 4 to QR 65 for the Karak in pots.
