A few cases have been reported to the Ministry of Health of people seeking medical checks, worried about a possible swine flu infection, a senior Ministry official said yesterday. These include three cases of individuals who came from countries that have reported confirmed or suspected cases of swine flu. “Elaborate tests conducted on these people have proved that they are not affected by the virus. There are no confirmed cases of swine flu in Qatar so far,” Dr Ahmed Kamal Naji, Assistant Minister for Health Affairs at the Ministry and Director of the Medical Commission told The Peninsula yesterday. “There is no panic in Qatar about the disease. But some people are just worried. We have come across with a few such cases, reported by the Hamad Medical Corporation and some private hospitals,” said Naji. The Ministry has advised the public as well as medical practitioners to report any related cases to the Communicable Diseases Control section at the Ministry. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=May2009&file=Local_News2009050632727.xml
