Smuggling of narcotic pills into Qatar in shoe thwarted

The General Authority of Customs announced the success of the air freight customs and private airports in thwarting the smuggling of narcotic pills, as part of its continuous efforts to monitor and thwart any smuggling attempts that would disturb the security of the country. 17 narcotics pills were recovered and seized immediately, according to Al Sharq.

The General Authority of Customs posted the following on its Twitter account, which can be translated as:

"Air freight customs and private airports thwart the smuggling of narcotic pills that were secretly hidden inside a shoe in one of the personal parcels. The number of seizures reached 17 narcotic tablets."

The General Authority of Customs is making great efforts to accelerate the pace of work to enter goods easily to ensure that goods are available in the market quickly, so it has equipped customs ports in Qatar with advanced inspection devices and introductory and educational courses for customs inspection personnel that qualify them to know the most important methods and means of global smuggling to monitor and foil any smuggling attempts that would breach security in Qatar.

It is worth noting that the General Authority of Customs is proceeding at a steady pace to develop and simplify customs procedures and apply the latest systems in accordance with the best international standards and practices in customs work, in addition to extending bridges of trust and cooperation with its partners and the public of those dealing with it.
