Popular Filipino artistes Yeng Constantino and Billy Crawford rocked a big crowd of community members at a concert at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex on Thursday. Yeng, together with her band ‘Morning Glory’ captivated the audience as she energetically performed her most famous songs such as Salamat and Hawak Kamay. Billy entertained the crowd with his singing and dancing skills and also his humour. Yeng is a reality TV winner of Pinoy Dream Academy, the Philippine edition of Endemol’s Star Academy and a reality TV singing search in the Philippines. After winning at Pinoy Dream Academy, she released her first solo studio album Salamat in 2007 and achieved 3x Platinum status. Her second album Journey achieved the Platinum status the following year. Her new album to be released this year will feature all her original song compositions. In spite of being new to the music industry, she had dominated the 21st Awit Awards (2008 Music Awards) where she got five awards including the best album and best selling album of the year for Salamat. Billy is a Filipino American musician and actor with musical influences from R&B and Pop & Soul. He became known around Europe and Asia with song titles such as Never My Love, Steamy Nights, When You Think About Me and Bright Lights. His first single of his album Ride called Trackin catapulted his music career. It reached the number one position on France sales and club charts. The song was also the number one in the Netherlands, number two in Belgium, number three in Switzerland and 20 in Germany. Other Filipino local artistes featured during the concert were ‘The Links Band’ and ‘Beats and Bytes Dancers.’ The concert was made possible by Beats and Bytes Production in collaboration with Safa Productions and Hamad Enazi.
