Social Development Center, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development officially announced Riymas – a community-based project which seeks to establish and maintain eight multi-purpose halls for large-scale events, particularly weddings, in Qatar within the next five years. Munther Al-Dawood, Manager, Projects and Investments, SDC, said “By providing the community with alternative and affordable venues for large-scale events like weddings, Riymas aims to enhance the quality of the events sector in Qatar. Through Riymas, SDC will set high management standards for event venues in the country. I would like to thank all our partners for their cooperation in bringing this project, which serves to meet the needs of Qatari society, to fruition.” DSC_3851.JPG Owned and managed by SDC, Riymas is licensed to manage wedding venues and other banquet halls across Qatar. This project is being delivered in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning to enhance the management of this sector, all of which supports the Qatari community and preserves the values and traditions of the country. Following thorough market research, SDC tailored Riymas services to suit the needs of local Qatari youth who are often seeking venues for weddings and other events. The study, which was conducted by Tanween Consultancy, showed the need to establish a total of eight venues – further demonstrating that demand is expected to increase over the next five years. Initiatives like Riymas enable SDC to further its main objective – promoting the role of the family unit in society, as well as maintaining its social and economic cohesion and stability. It also seeks to enhance the family role within society and improve its social and economic status, while providing job opportunities through developments and productive projects.
