The Human Rights Directorate at the Arab League has praised Qatar’s “pioneering” efforts in protecting human rights, noting that these efforts had now enhanced through Qatar’s keenness to join the regional and international human rights organisations. Ambassador Mahmoud Rashid Ghalib, director of the Human Rights Directorate at the Arab League, said: “These efforts would support the Arab region’s issues at the international arenas.” Speaking to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Ambassador Ghalib, hailed Qatar’s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) receiving a full membership at the International Co-ordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights and Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions in the 14th Annual Asia-Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions, held recently in the Jordanian Capital Amman. “Qatar joining such regional and international rights bodies reflects Qatar’s interest in the protection of human rights and growing activities being made by the Qatar National Committee for Human rights through spreading awareness about rights,” he noted. - QNA
