The Rental Dispute Resolving Committee plans to open a new satellite office within Doha to cope with a rising number of complaints, an official said yesterday. The committee, whose office is located next to the Muntazah Park, has already identified a building in the Al Asiri area to expand its operations. “Plans are underway to open an extension there,” the official said. A crucial buffer between tenants and landlords, the judicial-power-holding Rental Dispute Resolving Committee was established as part of an Emiri Decree in February 2008. “We are usually swamped by people who want to know their rights as tenants and those filing cases against landlords,” the official said. “The flow has been on the rise of late, especially since the current rent law expires on February 14,” he added. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=337991&version=1&template_id=57&parent_id=56
