DOHA: Qatar Petroleum (QP) will be the main sponsor of the opening ceremony of 3rd Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (Dimdex 2012), scheduled to be held from March 26-28, said a statement yesterday. Dimdex 2012 is the pre-eminent maritime defence event in the Mena region and will be staged in the Qatar National Convention. Held under the patronage of H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Heir Apparent, and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Dimdex 2012 is hosted by the Qatar Armed Forces and the Qatari Emiri Naval Forces. “QP is proud to support Dimdex 2012 under the directives of H E Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada, Minister of Energy & Industry and Chairman & Managing Director of QP. The international exhibition and conference would contribute in ensuring the continued security of our maritime assets, and our sponsorship of this event is in line with our commitment to support all initiatives related to national development,” said Sultan Abdulla Ali Al Abdulla, Manager, Public Relations and Communications at QP. The Chairman of Dimdex 2012, Staff Brigadier (Sea) Mohammed bin Nasser Al Mohannadi said: “We are delighted that QP has sponsored the prestigious opening ceremony and QP’s support will help to ensure that Dimdex 2012 will be the largest and most successful edition of the event yet.
