Qatargas announced to extend its support as Platinum sponsor of the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebrations being organised by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), a release said yesterday. During a brief ceremony held at Hamad Medical City, Mansour Rashid Al Naimi, Qatargas Public Relations Manager handed over a cheque to Mohammed Mubarak Al Naimi, Executive Director, Marketing and Public Relations, Hamad Medical Corporation. At the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebration scheduled to be held on June 14, Hamad Medical Corporation will honour individual blood donors as well as organisations that support HMC’s blood donation drive. Ghanim Al Kuwari, Qatargas Chief Operating Officer – Administration, said: “As an organisation that cares for the community, we are very proud to support HMC in organising the ‘World Blood Donor Day’ celebration. As part of our corporate social responsibility, Qatargas is committed to supporting the creation of a healthy society in the State of Qatar, as envisioned in the human development pillar of the Qatar National Vision 2030.” Mansour Rashid Al Naimi, Qatargas Public Relations Manager added: “Blood donation is a key element of health care services and Qatargas is proud to partner with HMC to support their efforts in this important area. Therefore, it is very important to highlight the importance of blood donation and we appreciate Qatargas’ contribution towards our efforts in spreading awareness in the community.” The ‘World Blood Donor Day’ is celebrated world wide on June 14 in order to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products and to thank voluntary blood donors for their life-saving gifts of blood. The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2012 is “Every blood donor is a hero”. While recognising the people across the world who save lives every day through their blood donations, the theme also strongly encourages more people to donate blood voluntarily and regularly.
