Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation, has announced the winners of the 4th edition of Qatar Sustainability Awards, individuals, institution and organizations for their contribution to the establishing and promoting sustainable development and environmental protection in the State of Qatar and the region.
A jury consisting of experts, specialists and academics reviewed and evaluated the awards, which were divided into 29 categories, centered on innovation and sustainable technologies in green buildings, green hospitality, green events, green companies, green service providers, sustainability initiatives, building products and green technologies.
The Director, QGBC Engineer Meshal Al Shamari, said that these awards are an opportunity to honor the winners and celebrate the outstanding efforts, accomplishments, commitment and contributions of individuals, institutions and organizations over the past year in promoting sustainable development and environmental protection in Qatar and abroad in various categories, in alignment with the needs and trends of green building and sustainable industries.
He pointed out that the Qatar Sustainability Awards reflect the place where the industry stands today and where it should go ... Noting that "we still have more work, creativity and effective solutions that make our lives more sustainable, increase development opportunities, improve public health and enhance social welfare."
He also called at the same time to enhance local, regional and international cooperation politically, economically and socially to meet the climate and environmental challenges the world is witnessing.
For his part, Tadmur Holding CEO Dafer Hallawa, expressed his happiness for joining QGBC in distributing these awards, praising the Council's ongoing efforts to achieving the goals of the State of Qatar and its national vision 2030.
He added that the winning projects are creative and innovative, and they reflect excellence, creativity and commitment, stressing his company's constant eagerness to educate youth and make them aware of thinking and to live in a sustainable way.
