The State of Qatar welcomes the Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan and hopes that it represents a step towards a permanent cessation of fighting in the Strip, especially in light of the catastrophic humanitarian conditions suffered by civilians, including children and women.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stresses the need to commit to implementing the resolution, especially stopping the fighting, facilitating the urgent and unhindered entry of humanitarian aid into all areas of the Gaza Strip, and engaging positively in the ongoing negotiations. In this context, it confirms the continued mediation of the State of Qatar in cooperation with partners to stop the war on Gaza and address its humanitarian repercussions.

The Ministry expresses the State of Qatar's hope that the vote of 14 countries in favor of the resolution will constitute a fundamental shift in the international community's awareness of the seriousness of the tragic conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Gaza Strip in particular, thus strengthening international efforts aimed at implementing the two-state solution and resuming the peace process on the basis of the resolutions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates the State of Qatar’s firm position in support of the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people. First and foremost is his right to establish his independent state on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
