A National influenza vaccination campaign has been launched by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) jointly today.

HMC said that this is in line with health experts' warnings of the importance of getting the vaccine this year more than ever.

The vaccine will be available in over 70 public and private health facilities and MoPH has urged all the vulnerable groups, in addition to residents and citizens to get the flu shot. Dr. Abdullatif Al Khal, Chair of the National Health Strategic Group on Covid-19 and Head of Infectious Diseases at Hamad Medical Corporation said, “taking the flu vaccine is more important this year amid the Coronavirus Pandemic. Both the Covid-19 and flu have the same symptoms and getting co-infected with flu and coronavirus can lead to severe complications”.

MoPH said that it aims to vaccinate around 500000 people and the vaccination will start from tomorrow, 20 October. The campaign will last until February but it is important that people take it earlier than that.
