The first batch of cows that were anticipated have arrived in Qatar. In light of the recent crisis and the economic sanctions that came along with it, Qatar has flown in cows from Germany in order to become more self-suffiicient in milk and dairy production.

The batch flown in on Tuesday contained 165 Holstein dairy cows that were transported to air-conditioned pens that can reportedly house around 10,000 cows.

The import of these cows comes after the market in Qatar saw an increase in products from countries like Turkey, Iran and Morocco and an increase in the popularity of locally-produced products.
