In the lead-up to the event starting in October, Expo 2023 Doha continues to expand its network of partners, mobilising Qatar’s key entities to join the unique celebration spanning 6 months. This Thursday April 13th, the Ministry of Municipality hosted an official signing ceremony between Expo 2023 Doha, Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport (DOH), a significant milestone for all parties who will work together to elevate Expo 2023 Doha tourism potential.

The national carrier of the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways is one of the youngest and most state-of-the-art airlines in the world, serving more than 150 destinations globally. After the year of growth marked by the World Cup and the significant increase of incoming flights to Doha, Qatar Airways will continue to raise the country’s profile as an unparalleled travel destination and support Expo 2023 Doha as its Official Airline Partner in promoting it as a must-visit attraction for all travellers and business visitors coming to Doha from the region and internationally.

Crowned “Best Airport in The World” for the second consecutive year in 2022 and “World’s Best Airport Shopping” in 2023, Hamad International Airport is the gateway to Qatar offering unique experiences, world-class infrastructure and services to all passengers. The airport will become Expo 2023 Doha strategic partner, supporting the hosting of Expo 2023 Doha visitors from the region and all around the world.

The first months of 2023 registered a record number of visitors in Qatar compared to the previous record in 2016 for the same period of time, marking the revival of tourism in the country and the post-World Cup momentum. Expo 2023 Doha will contribute to further establishing Qatar’s position as a regionally and internationally attractive destination and will serve as another important milestone for the country, attracting visitors from the region and overseas.

H.E. Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways Group CEO, said: “A number of significant events taking place in Qatar in 2023 build upon our investment in infrastructure and our hospitality industry in order to offer more specialised tourism, world class sporting activities including the Geneva International Motor Show and the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The Expo 2023 Doha Qatar is a key international addition to the calendar and will see a major focus on Climate Change. I am delighted to announce that Qatar Airways will be a leading sponsor, which will see the airline promote the Expo and encourage visitors through compelling travel packages”.

Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer, Chief Operating Officer, Hamad International Airport, added “We are honoured to be one of the official partners of the Expo 2023 Doha and look forward to welcoming visitors to this prestigious event. As the main entry point for travellers, we aim to offer passengers arriving to the State of Qatar an unmatched airport experience and seamless connectivity to the city of Doha and the event.”.

Expo 2023 Doha Secretary General, Mohammed Ali Alkhoori, added: “We are looking forward to starting our collaboration with Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport, key the drivers of the country’s travel and tourism industry. Tourism attractiveness will be one of the Expo 2023 Doha central pillars. With an exciting entertainment offering to visitors of all ages – including kids and families - Expo will become the main country’s highlight between the end of 2023 and early 2024”.

Expo 2023 Doha is set to run between October ’23 – March ’24 in Al Bidda Park with an aim to attract over three million visitors and will be the first of its kind to be held in Qatar, the Middle East, and North Africa.
