Qatar’s population continues to surge and touched over 2.37 million by May-end, up 32,000 over April.
The population by May-end was 2,374,860, which was 32,135 more than the April total of 2,342,725, show data released by the Ministry of Development Planning and Statistics.
Compared to 2104-end population of 2,235,431, the increase in the past five months has been around 140,000, averaging 28,000 per month.
In May, the male-female ratio continued to be lop-sided and dominated by men due to the preponderance of single workers. There were 1.78 million men and 593,000 women.
The ministry said these were preliminary figures and represent people of all ages within Qatar’s boundaries as on May 31.
The figures do not take into account citizens and expatriates who were out of the country at the time.
