Qatar, which has a low rate of tuberculosis infections, is aiming to totally stop the spread of the disease among its citizens and residents within the next five to eight years, a senior infectious diseases expert has revealed. “The World Health Organisation has developed a new six-point ‘Stop TB Strategy’.... Its goal is to dramatically reduce the global burden of tuberculosis by 2015 by ensuring all TB patients benefit from universal access to high-quality diagnosis and patient-centred treatment,” National TB Programme manager Dr Abdul Latif al-Khal said.
