No final date yet on new airport: minister

The Minister of Transport HE Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti has said that no final date had been fixed yet for the opening of Hamad International Airport and that services will begin when the facilities and systems are ready, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported.
Regarding the railway project, the minister said it would be opened in 2019. He also said that development work on the Old Doha port would be completed by the beginning of April, the report stated.
The statements were made during the minister’s visit to the 30th Gulf Traffic Week. He hailed the event and stressed its objective of raising traffic awareness.
Further, the minister referred to the relationship between the Ministry of Interior represented by the Traffic Department and the Ministry of Transport, stating that both were working to fulfil the common objective of easing the flow of traffic in the country, according to the report.
Al-Sulaiti said his ministry has plans to enhance the standard of transportation in Qatar and their outcome will be felt soon, the report added.
