Over one billion people around the world will unite on March 31 at 20:30 to address climate change by simply turning off their lights for one hour as part of the WWF’s global initiative. In keeping with its everlasting commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, Mِovenpick Hotel Doha marks this event by switching off all non-essential lights in the hotel’s public areas, offices, staff accommodation as well as restaurants where guests get to enjoy a candlelight dinner experience. Over 300 candles will be lit by the team members throughout the hotel. “Earth Hour is a powerful demonstration of how even the smallest of efforts like turning the lights off can engage a global community and help create a sustainable future, said Fabien Chesnais, General Manager, Mِovenpick Hotel Doha. Earth Hour, the world’s largest public action for the environment, was initiated by World Wild Fund for Nature (WWF) with the purpose of generating greater awareness of global environmental concerns. In 2011, Mِovenpick Hotel Doha has been certified by Green Globe, the worldwide sustainability system based on internationally accepted criteria for sustainable operation and management of travel and tourism businesses.
