Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced Friday its discounted consumer goods list for Ramadan on more than 500 products starting Saturday until the end of the month, in cooperation with major supermarkets.
The annual initiative comes in the framework of the ministry keenness to meet citizens and residents needs of consumer goods at reduced prices during the holy month, when spending on those items is higher.
The initiative covers basic products consumed during Ramadan, such as flour, sugar, rice, pasta, chicken, oil, milk, and other food and non-food items who see relatively higher demand during Ramadan.
The ministry said in a statement today that it agreed with all suppliers on the type of products that see increased demands during the holly month in order to have sufficient supply at suitable prices. The statement said that the list has been circulated on the major supermarkets and consumers can access it through the ministry's website.
The ministry noted that it will firmly confront any negligence in terms of the commitments mentioned in the consumer protection law and its executive regulations, adding that it will intensify inspections for any violations to protect consumer rights.
It called on consumers to report any violations by phone on 16001, email on infomoci.gov.qa, and Twitter handle MOCIQATAR.
