The Minister of Transportation launched two marine vessels to combat pollution and maintain navigational aids at Doha Port on 18 September 2023.
The first multi-use vessel, Al Jurula, contains oil pollution control equipment and is equipped with a system for cleaning waste on the sea's surface. It is used in cleaning the docks of Hamad, Doha, and Ruwais ports.
The second vessel, Al Samlah, is used to maintain navigational aids such as buoys and lighthouses spread along the coasts and waterways in Qatar. The vessel helps in maintaining commercial and tourist ports, which contributes to ensuring the safe and efficient movement of all types of ships in Qatari waters.
