The Ministry of Interior (MOI) in a tweet on 2 November 2022 said that the Department for Combating Economic and Electronic Crimes at the General Department of Criminal Investigation, in cooperation with the Intellectual Property Protection Committee, managed to seize 144 counterfeit cups similar to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

This is in violation of Law No. 10 of 2021 regarding the measures to host the FIFA World Cup. The ministry intensified the search and investigation after finding out of a website that promoted the sale of cups that mimic the shape of the World Cup, and the counterfeit cups were seized.
The ministry also called upon the competent authorities to abide by the laws and regulations governing intellectual property and not to violate the rights of others, in order to avoid being subjected to legal accountability.
