McDonald’s Qatar hosted recently a group of journalists in Qatar for an all access tour to one of its branches. The initiative is part of the brand’s groundbreaking Open Door program, which invites members of the media and public into its kitchens to see how food is sourced, handled, prepared, and served. McDonald’s is the first and only Quick Service Restaurant in the Middle East to do so.

First launched in the GCC in 2006, the program is conducted by trained crew members, and consists of a comprehensive tour of all areas of McDonald’s kitchens.

Ayoub Mozaffari the operations manager commented: “The Open Door program is entirely unique to McDonald’s, and has been developed with transparency in mind. We appreciate that food source and preparation are more important to our customers than ever, and we believe it is a diner’s right to know what he or she is eating. By offering media access to our kitchens, we are inviting them to experience the industry-leading practices and procedures we are proud to implement on a daily basis, so people would be confident on what they are eating.”

During the tour, members of the media representing Arabic and English Dailies, magazines and on-line, went behind the scenes stage of preparing McDonald’s food, and had the chance to prepare their own sandwiches and meals. They had clear and detailed idea on how McDonald’s keeps attention to every single detail in the process, starting from importing the materials, storing them, preparing the meals, and delivering them to the customers.

“this is a unique experience we are conducting here at McDonalds. We are transparent about our products quality and safety, and we ensure that our customers are satisfied and confident on what they are having. We are the only food place who is confident about hosting its customers in the kitchen”, Mozaffari explained:

McDonald’s is committed to serving the very best, and never compromises on food quality. McDonald’s previously announced plans to conduct more than 20,000 all access tours of its GCC kitchens by the year 2020.
