An Asian man has been sentenced to three-year imprisonment following his conviction of sexually abusing his Filipina secretary. The plaintiff (25) told the investigators that the incident took place on her first working day on November 20, 2008. The Filipina said: “When my colleagues went home around 1pm, he invited me for lunch in his office. I went to wash my hands and there he kissed and hugged me before closing the door. I shouted at him and he apologised but I left the place and went with my husband to file a case.” The 44-year-old Pakistani manager denied the woman’s claim saying “it was a malicious complaint because I told her that she was not qualified for the job of a secretary.” He agreed that he invited the woman to lunch, but said that she ate and went home and “nothing of that sort happened.” The plaintiff had left the country before the commencement of the trial and the court adopted her testimony under oath. Explaining the conviction, the court said that “an unqualified secretary does not deserve an invitation to lunch.” The court found the statement of the Filipina “reasonable” saying that “the purpose of the manager to invite her to a lunch was to perpetrate the crime.” http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=309497&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
