An Asian man, who was convicted of raping his daughter and impregnating her, has been sentenced to life in prison by a Doha court of first instance. According to the charge-sheet, the accused (54) sneaked into his daughter’s room and raped her on three occasions in October last year. The plaintiff, now 18, told the judges that her father prevented her from shouting. The court heard that the victim was told in the hospital that she was pregnant on December 3 last year. A paternity test showed that the father of the plaintiff was also her baby’s father with no traces of violence on her body. The accused was convicted as the plaintiff’s stepmother and brother testified that she had told them about the matter. The court said that the father “perpetrated an obscene crime and instead of protecting his daughter, he raped her against all principles of humanity.” Explaining the verdict, the court said the suspect deserved the punishment as the victim was under his control.
