A spa and wellness sector is to be developed in Qatar and serve clients in the Middle East through a joint venture launched yesterday between Germany-based Premedion GmbH and Qatar-based Al-Jaidah Brothers. Al-Jaidah Brothers Company senior manager for business development Thomas Webber said that Premedion would focus on the spa consulting and management, health tourism, medical wellness and prevention. He said that the new company would use Premedion’s medical expertise and resources in the Medical Prevention Centre at the university hospital in Hamburg-Eppendorf. Webber said that as a separate activity line, the company, co-operating with different government institutions and health insurance companies would provide services for its target-oriented groups. “We are also interested in setting up and maintaining “healthy compounds” in which we would provide spa consultancy and management for the different compound owners,” he said. Premedion GmbH is a private institute for preventive medicine within Deutsche Seereederei group which has more than 50 years of worldwide experience in tourism and hotels, wellness and preventive care as well as other segments. “We have already booked summer holidays for some of Qatar’s leading families,” he said. He observed that the preventive medical treatment package included daily sport activity, and medical spa treatment such as massage and physical therapy. The medical check-up included medical history and check up, three dimensional spine, muscle strength, cardio scan-stress, body composition, stability and lactate analysis. “All of the analysis should be implemented at the beginning of the stay to plan the treatment programmes, at a reasonable cost,” he added. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=287356&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
