The fifth edition of iWED, the region’s most prestigious wedding exhibition and fashion event, is set to showcase innovative and trend-setting products and services from the wedding industry as it opens on Wednesday at the Doha Exhibition Centre. During the four-day course of the event, sponsors of the event will be introducing new concepts to Qatar, according to the organisers of iWED 2012 during a press conference at Sheraton Doha yesterday. “We are very proud to partner with the region’s most famous names in fashion, stylists, cosmetics, wedding planning and other wedding related services. IWED 2012 promises to be an outstanding event providing brides-to-be with fully-fledged services and products. I am certain every couple planning for their wedding will find what they are looking for,” said Georges Saliba, Chief Operating Officer of Qatar Expo, organisers of the event. One of the new concepts on show is the American franchise Dashing Diva Salon Doha, a Diamond Sponsor, which will open its door in Qatar this month. Jihad AI Khalidi, General Manager of Dashing Diva, said they offer a huge selection of nail polish colours (over 150 colours to choose from), hundreds of easy to apply predecorated nails, the revolutionary new Virtual Nails, all the latest nail care trends and techniques in a unique and fun atmosphere. “iWed is a unique trade show and the perfect platform to introduce our new concept to the target clients in Doha, and network with peers from the same industry,” said Al Khalidi. Lebanese Designer lbrahim Khachan, who is also a Diamond sponsor, said: “iWED is a show that helps mark Qatar as a fashion and beauty destination and puts it on the map and as a fashion designer I want to be part of this process”. Khachan is renowned for his flawless eye for style and his elegant, innovative designs has attracted many royal figures including the ruling families from Qatar and Saudi Arabia. In iWED 2012, Khachan will be showcasing his spring and summer collection. “For those in the beauty industry, participation in IWED is key,” said Fadia El Mendelek, the third Diamond sponsor. “This is the best place to show our unique services to the right target audience and help increase the beauty standards in Doha and mark it as a fashion and beauty destination.” During iWED’s four-day exhibition, by visiting Fadia Mendelek’s booth visitors have the chance to win a Makeover and Style by Fadia Mendelek herself. The ‘Zaffa’ (Middle Eastern tradition of walking the bride and groom into their wedding whilst singing marriage chants) is a significant part of weddings in the Middle East. Zaffat studios, the catwalk host sponsors, have been well established in Qatar and specialize in all types of Zaffa’s. Other iWED sponsors include Frank Provost and Nails as Hair and Nail sponsor; Qvision and Elegant Events as Wedding Principal Sponsor; Vera Wang, the Support Sponsor and Al Muftah Rent a Car the annual partner for iWED.
