Hadeel bags first gold medal for Qatar in taekowndo

Taekowndo competitions of the first Gulf women's championship began on Friday 7 March 2008 at the hall of Kuwaiti Association Of Judo and Taekowndo. Hadeel won the gold medal after beating the Bahraini Mariam owagy 7-0 and the Kuwaiti Layal Najm 5-3. The Kuwaiti player won the silver medal while the Bahraini player had the bronze medal. Qatari player Aisha al Mansoury won the bronze medal for under 63 kg of weight. Bahrain won the gold medal in this category and Kuwait had the silver medal. Hadeel expressed her happiness for the achievement and said she was well prepared for the tournament and she deserves to win. Also Qatari women basketball team made its second victory in a raw on Friday 7 March 2008 in the first Gulf women's championship after beating Bahrain 76-48. Sheikha Naema al Ahmed al Sabah, the head of the organizing committee honored the winners and presented to them the medals and trophies. Sheikha Dr. Rana Essa al Khalifa, the head of the Bahraini delegate and Mrs. Maha al Abedul Jabbar, the Manager of the Qatari women national team of taekwondo participated in honoring the winners.
