The Supreme Council of Health (SCH) is in the process of initiating a law for the protection of human subjects involved in research. “It is a mission of the SCH’s Research Department to establish a Qatar National Research Ethics Committee,” human research section manager Dr Eman al-Sadoun said yesterday at a symposium to introduce Biobank Qatar. Regulatory guidelines are being developed for the ethical conduct of research involving human and animal subjects. Dr al-Sadoun stressed that under no circumstances should any research involving human subjects be done without the approval of the institutional review board.
