As per an article in the Al Sharq Newspaper on 16 May 2022, the family court issued a verdict obliging an individual to increase the monthly alimony amount to QR 6,000 from the previous QR 4,500 that was being paid. The amount obligated amount is to be equally divided among the children.

The plaintiff, being the ex-wife of the husband who had bore him 3 children had placed an initial request to obligate the defendant to provide a car, driver, maid, and their salaries. Her lawsuit also included the request for an increase in custodian wages and housing provisioning along with the increased monthly alimony. However, the only request considered by the court was the increased alimony, nullifying the rest.

Upon the time of the marriage annulment, monthly alimony of QR 4,500 was agreed upon for the children. The defendant had submitted to the court his inability to increase the alimony amount due to his total salary and a debt from the bank.

Under Article 75 of the Family Code, the maintenance of a young child who has no money is mandatory upon the father until the marriage of a girl and a boy is of the age of earning unless the boy is a student who is continuing education. Furthermore, as per Article 60 of the Family Law, the alimony amount may be changed as per circumstances. Lastly, Article 62 of the Family Law stipulates that when an alimony amount is estimated the following are to be taken into consideration; capacity of the spender, condition of the spender, and economic conditions in time and place.

Furthermore, the plaintiff's requests concerning studies, a maid, a driver, a car, clothing, and bedding are considered parts of the alimony and have been established as necessities.
