Emir to open Arab Games on Dec 9

HH the Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani will inaugurate the 12th Arab Games, Doha 2011, on Friday December 9, and attend the opening ceremony which will be staged at the Khalifa International Stadium. The organising committee of the Arab Games, Doha 2011, which will run until December 23, said that the opening ceremony would be staged by over 1,000 people. Featuring hi-tech displays, the ceremony will be conducted by David Atkins Enterprises (DAE), one of the best known international teams of creative practitioners in global event production. “After tremendous hard work, we have finally reached the point when Doha is ready to welcome all Arab nations for a spectacular series of sporting and cultural events that celebrate the shared traditions of all Arab communities,” said HE Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman al-Thani, president, AGOC, and secretary general, QOC. “The opening ceremony marks the beginning of Qatar’s message to the Arab nations, that this year’s Arab Games will bring together everything that Arab nations share and love from sports to live music, culture, and arts, featuring events and stunning performances representing different parts of the Arab world to entertain fans of all ages and nationalities,” he added. Tickets to the opening ceremony are now available for sale on the official website of Arab Games Doha 2011 (http://www.arabgames2011.qa), and at Virgin Megastores in Landmark and Villaggio malls. Tickets for the opening ceremony are priced at QR150 for Gold, QR100 for Silver, and QR50 for Bronze. Full-day ticketing packages for families, groups of friends, and individuals, as well as single and sports fan packages will be available for purchase on the official website of Arab Games Doha 2011, as well as at Virgin Megastores in Landmark and Villaggio malls. Selected packages include discounts on QOC and Arab Games merchandise.
